AOMS Technologies, founded in 2014 by Hamid Alemohammad, Amir Azhari, and Richard Liang in Waterloo, Ontario, achieved over 300% revenue growth in two years with support from the RIC Centre. Initially a hardware company, AOMS transitioned smoothly from customer discovery to company building after joining the RIC Incubator Program in 2016, gaining access to Xerox Research Centre Canada’s lab space and resources.
The RIC Centre provided critical guidance, advising AOMS to adopt a recurring sensing-as-a-service business model, which boosted market traction. This pivot helped AOMS secure their first customer, a federally funded project in California, and obtain seed funding from various government agencies and private investors, including IRAP.
Throughout the RIC Centre’s Cohort Program, AOMS benefited from office space, experienced advisors, and strategic support, which were crucial during product development and R&D. Although they have graduated from the incubator program, AOMS maintains a strong relationship with their advisor.
By 2019, AOMS moved into a commercial space, closed their Series A round, and expanded internationally. The company’s continuous growth and strong foundation are attributed to the invaluable support and expertise provided by the RIC Centre.
