Anomera’s journey began in 2015 with a small team of three post-docs and a professor working on an innovative concept. By 2016, they incorporated and started collaborating with the Xerox Research Centre of Canada. This partnership introduced them to Pam Banks at the RIC Centre, where they joined a scaling initiative and became an incubator client. This move filled their resource gap in business and funding guidance while leveraging Xerox’s manufacturing support.

With the RIC Centre’s guidance, Anomera secured their intellectual property and raised $5 million within three years. This funding significantly boosted their manufacturing capabilities, achieving an 800% increase in yield. They also established partnerships with global cosmetic brands, including Chanel, to include their biodegradable microbeads in cosmetic products. In May 2019, they received an additional $150,000 from the Industrial Research Assistance Program funded by the National Research Council.

Today, Anomera holds six unique patents and has expanded their team from four to fourteen members. They are in the process of raising $25 million for a demonstration-scale manufacturing facility expected to close by the end of the year. Their next steps include commercializing their product and completing their manufacturing facilities for broader commercial applications. Their VP of Operations, Nathan Hordy, continues to maintain industry connections and share contacts to support ongoing growth. For the full success story, [download here](your-download-link.com).
